I started on a African Twin 1000cc engine by mistake, didn't take a motorcycle class or have motorcycle endorsement on license. Riding is in my blood I grew up riding dirt dikes, four wheelers, go karts, scooters and now today motorcycle. I plan on getting my motorcycle endorsement though next week!

Everyone says the same thing but then keep in mind you ended up buying the SFV4s with ohlins active suspension 🤷‍♂️ Comfort eventually wins, especially when on the bike long hours.

17:22 Amen. This, this is the truth here. A lot of people just wanna gatekeep and ruin people's fun for buying the bike they want. Either because they can't afford the bike you got. Or because they wanna feel superior by gatekeeping. The only thing anybody should consider is the health and safety of yourself as the rider. As long as you are driving safe, respecting the law, If you feel you are okay with the type of riding you do, on the bike you wanna ride, fuck everybody else.

Do you know why people say "Don't start on a liter bike?" because they don't know you. They have no clue what your capabilities are. Apparently you are a good rider and you have no issues. When i was at bike school i rode a 650cc 85hp bike and i was punching it all the time. The instructor kept telling the others how to ride their bikes and he kept yelling at me "GO SLOWER" There was a girl and the instructor didn't give her the keys. She kept pushing the bike and i wish i was making that up. I felt bad for her. After 2 weeks she stopped coming (i would too if i was her). I saw kiddos that cannot change gears on a 65hp, almost brand new bike. If they get on a liter bike, they'll crash within the first 10 minutes. ... that being said... some people are simply better riders... and they can start on a liter bike... People say "Don't start on a liter bike" because they know, that mature people who are capable of riding a 1000cc won't listen to them...

Starting on a liter bike isn’t scary if you have respect for yourself and your machine all the idiots saying don’t start on a liter bike are the same idiots who ride 400cc+ bikes like they’re the only ones on the roads and cry when they get hit or low side trying to avoid distracted drivers same jarheads who throw tantrums over getting cut off don’t listen to biker normies

first 75% very helpful. However, the last section on suspension set up is hard to follow. I'm new to V4S and video is hard to follow when you know nothing! I'm sure it's clear when you have the knowledge so will come back to it in the future. Not clear to me at first viewing

Yeah starting on a 1000 can work if you have discipline and the right mindset. They are not hard to ride on freeways and straight roads. However, If you really want to become a great rider and really push in the corners it’s so much better to start on a small bike to learn.The proper braking, turn in, exit, line are all much easier to learn on a small bike. But for regular riding 1000s are a blast just don’t be surprised when 400s pass you in the canyons. Anyone can twist the wrist but corners are the real test.

Really good points ty. I customised my daily ride car, to have "just" 300 hp, but about 300nm torque. It's very light. I respect its power because it goes real fast real quick and on streets, I don't want to use all that power unless I'm going straight. So I don't push it too far. Its faster than my supercharged v8 Jaguar. It won't do 0-60 in 3 seconds, but I don't need that in a street car. I'm looking for a V4R for my first bike because I do lots of training and don't need to prove anything to anyone.

I bought an RS660 and the wrist needs to be turned pretty bad on that bike

I love this video. I taught myself to ride on a GSX-R 750 - it virtually has no tech, just a raw stree bike and I love it. I just recently got a GSX-R 1000 and it is suprisingly less aggressive than my 750. Granted it has plenty of tech to harness it back some, I am sure that if I take all those restrictions off it will be a different story, but at the end of the day its not the bike, it's the rider's mindstate that makes the difference. Keep on enjoying your passion. Two wheels down, bruh!
